Hong Kong Sights

The longest chain of escalators and walking paths in the world takes you from Hong Kong Central to the Midlevels, where you can go check out the thriving restaurant scene and happenings of the expat community.

The Nunnery and gardens provide a green safe haven from the city. Even as someone who does not particularly enjoy religious sight seeing, I would recommend this site to Hong Kong visitors. As we were walking along the paths lined with Bonsai trees it was amusing to look up and see towering skyscrapers as proof of a mighty city realm just beyond that, despite its proximity, could not seem to infiltrate the zen of the quiet gardens.

Everyone who visits Hong Kong must see Victoria Peak and the incredible view of the city below. I would recommend heading up to the top a bit before sunset so that you can enjoy the city in various lights. Though the view is pretty during the day, the image is far more powerful at night. The clouds hover so low that they brush the skyscrapers, whose lights illuminate the blanket of mist above.
